Haverfordwest County 1 – Barry Town United 1

Ben Ahmun - equalised just before half time for Haverfordwest CountyHaverfordwest County came from behind to secure a frustrating draw against Barry Town United at the LHP Stadium, Carmarthen on Tuesday evening.

Ollie Hulbert gave the visitors the lead, on 32 minutes, saw Barry down to ten-men as Josh Yorwerth saw red, and just before the break Ben Ahmun equalised. There was no further scoring in the second period as the Tony Pennock’s men failed to take the initiative with the numerical advantage.

The Bluebirds started brightly as Ben Fawcett found the side netting with only two minutes on the clock.

Midway through the first period the Linnets had their first sight at goal as Harrison Bright had his shot blocked.

The visitors opened the scoring when a long throw-in in the box is poorly dealt with by the Bluebirds’ defence and it sets up a close range finish for Hulbert.

The visitors were reduced to ten men as Yorwerth is shown a straight red card by referee Bryn Markham-Jones for deliberately denying a goal scoring opportunity.

On the stroke of half time the Bluebirds levelled matters as left back Alaric Jones cut in from the left and picked out Ahmun who clinically swept home from inside the box.

Shortly after the interval Kyle McCarthy struck a first time shot across the face of Luc Rees’s goal, a minute later Jones’ cross found Ahmun who looped his header over the crossbar.

The Bluebirds continued to dominate but were frustrated at not getting the vital winner as Ahmun struck the side-netting also McCarthy struck a low drive inches wide.
